FRAGRANCE DEVELOPMENT

Custom fragrance development & samples

A useful reference, specific feedback and a recorded approval keep the project moving.

On this page 5 sections

Describe the scent

Product, market and fragrance reference.

Compare samples

Record the code, date and feedback.

Approve a version

Keep the agreed scent reference.

Give the scent a clear purpose

A development brief is most useful when it describes the finished product and its audience. Include your sales market, product format, preferred price position and any packaging decisions already made. A physical fragrance reference can help communicate the direction, but it should be accompanied by notes about what you want to keep or change.

Describe the opening and the impression you want later in wear. Freshness, sweetness, warmth, floral character and woody texture are separate choices. Specify any notes or effects you want to avoid.

Compare samples with a consistent method

Keep the sample code and date with your comments. Compare samples under similar conditions, record the opening and later observations, and avoid changing several evaluation methods at once. Use the sample only as instructed for its intended application.

A sample code makes feedback usable. Keep the code, application and date with your notes; a shelf of trial fragrances does not establish which version belongs to an approved order. The photograph above is from Alpha Aromatics, not an MX sample inventory.

Separate fragrance feedback from pack feedback

A bottle choice, spray output or decorated carton can be evaluated alongside a scent trial, but each has a different approval purpose. Record which fragrance version is selected and which physical components remain undecided.

Concentrates, diluted trials and the finished filled product may represent different evaluation stages. Ask Anna what each supplied sample represents before using it as the benchmark for an order.

Approve a version that production can identify

When a trial is accepted, retain its reference and the agreed product format with the project brief. If you request another adjustment, identify the version being changed. Ask which aspects of the final formulation, fill and packaging need to be rechecked.

Plan costs and timing by scope

A fragrance trial, bottle sample and complete decorated pack involve different work. Sample fees, courier charges, development rounds and timing are quoted for your project. There is no published fixed sample fee or guaranteed development schedule on this site.
